An interview with Ronda
Tell us a little bit about your work and your role.
I run a debt recovery company, offering debt recovery on no win no fee from pre legal to legal to enforcement and we also offer a bespoke white label credit control function for any clients which need the entire ledger chased.
What does your work with a client usually involve?
Taking action to recover any money owed to them.
How did you get into this field of work?
I sat my ICM qualifications many years ago after working as a credit controller for some time.
What excites you about your role?
I absolutely love what I do. I love resolving disputes dealing with different character types and getting a good result for my client.
What does your ideal client look like?
A business that has business to business debts and can pass repeat business.
What have your highlights been so far?
Taking Lidl to court and winning for my client. Getting 750k back for another client. Helping a client with 500k worth of bad debt I managed to recover 370K for them.
What are the challenges currently facing your sector?
Covid and businesses genuinely struggling.
Do you find companies try to do this area of work themselves - and get stuck? What are the common issues?
Yes - often companies use untrained staff to make collection calls and it just ends up not being very inefficient. Often people are ashamed to ask the client to pay what is due.
Should a busy entrepreneur prioritise this area of work?
How can they make time for it with everything else on their plate? They don’t need to they can out source to us and allow us to take the strain of getting them paid on time.
What's the best advice you've been given?
Never Give Up!
What do you do when you're not at work?
I have two children so they keep me busy. I also enjoy working out at the gym, yoga reading and spending time with my partner.
What are the benefits do you think of working together in a collective way like Runway Advisors?
We can use each other’s area of expertise to strengthen our own business.
Could you provide an example of a common question or issue that clients present you with, and write a few lines in response?
My terms are 30 days but at the end of the month I still have lots of invoices outstanding for payment. Can you help me with this?
I can most certainly help with this - we can offer a bespoke credit control service. Some customers require us to take a gentle customer service approach to credit control and some customers like us to be more forceful where we add interest for late payment compensation and recovery fees and get strait in with the pre action protocol.
